Vodafone Struck Down By Hackers
Vodafone attacked by hackers
Vodafone is no doubt currently embroiled in disaster recovery steps after hackers targeted the company and possibly stole bank sort codes, mobile numbers and customers’ names, accessing some 1,827 accounts before they were cut off.
An investigation has been launched and the customers affected have been informed, with a spokesman for the company quoted by the Daily Express as saying: “This incident was driven by criminals using email addresses and passwords acquired from an unknown source external to Vodafone. Vodafone’s systems were not compromised or breached in any way.”
While the company is adamant that bank account details were not accessed, it is warning customers to keep an eye out for phishing attempts by those responsible who may try to acquire the remainder of their details.
If the worst does happen and you are targeted by hackers, or your system goes down for some other reason, by having cloud backup and disaster recovery systems in place you ensure that your speed of recovery is much quicker and your network downtime is dramatically reduced.
Online server backup in the cloud means that you can take advantage of continuous protection and peace of mind without having to take up valuable server space. This is without a doubt the most efficient way of protecting and storing your business data, so if you’re yet to consider it now could well be the time.
It’s thought that hacking attempts will only increase in the future, so make sure you’re protected now before the worst happens and your business takes a hit.
